Business Challenge
The organization is migrating TIBCO workflows to its Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) platform. Fourteen workflows have been identified for migration using Talend DI, a new integration tool that replaces TIBCO. The existing workflows involve real-time event-based file ingestion (CSV, XML, JSON). This is a time-critical project as the organization is coming towards the end of its TIBCO license.
JRD Solution
The JRD team proposed a migration approach for the existing workflows to the new platform using Talend ETL jobs. We identified common functions across the fourteen workflows, which comprised over 1,600 subprocesses. Many subprocesses were similar, allowing our team to develop reusable Talend jobs. Additionally, by setting up a configurable environment-based context, our team was able to produce jobs that significantly reduced migration effort. The time required for converting the first workflow to the second was reduced by 40% due to these reusable jobs, which are easy to integrate into any of the fourteen workflows while adjusting their related context environments.
Key Benefits
- Reduced migration time through reusable components.
- Improved performance by transitioning from existing manual jobs.
- Decreased the number of workflows, enhancing efficiency.
- Alleviated workload through context-based configurations.
